As I was shopping in December. I noticed the trees. They looked like someone decorated them with fake snow. It didn’t snow much but it was cold out and foggy out. You can tell which way the wind was blowing because of the frost on the tree. There was a thick frost on one side rather than the other. To me, it was beautiful so I took pics. Not once did science in nature cross my mind. I was just in awe and how the trees looked like someone sprayed fake snow… The lights made the tree glow with the reflection in the snow. My mission was just to go to Walmart when I noticed this. This town of Cochrane is alongside the Bow River.
As I turned on the news that night, it was teaching about the rime ice and hoar frost. This video clip link below will show the difference between the two. It’s a type of frost that can take out power lines.

So after this I drove out to the country to catch some cool photos.

I love nature and didn’t know the names and labels to the different things I see living out in the country. Grateful for the news to show me this frost name and how it was developed. It made me think more about what’s happening with the weather. How come we barely got snow this winter… On top of everything else, it made me think of water. The cycles of water especially with nature and the land we live.
