Water is connectivity within us

Spring is the best time to enjoy fresh rain, but we can’t forget that snow is important too.
Watering roots for regrowth of all life
Within the ground as above, it’s our DNA
Spring waters for us to flourish
Earth is a beautiful system for you and me
Our brains are like the trees
Without water we whittle
Water is energy you see
Can you taste the difference in the water you drink?
A prayer for gratitude for mother earth
Without nature’s gifts all around us, who are we ?
When flowers bloom, it’s a gift for us to eat.
Our cost is being guardians
How the creeks, rivers and springs resemble our veins.
Everything is connected by the flow of water
Water unites us all like a braid of flowing communities respecting cooperativity.

I was honored to be asked to create this piece for the Banff Canmore Foundation. I think I found my special creativity in art. I’ve been taking pictures to go with my poems before I did this piece of painting. I am grateful for how it has unleashed motivation and inspires my creativity.

The theme I picked was water. What inspired this piece was the floods in 2013. We were so worried about it flooding again so we prepared for it. The irony of it all is that we are starting to drought. Water is life. Water is us. I honestly must say the year of 2013 is the most beautiful year because it bloomed so many flowers. I wish I had pictures to show you. Like all the flowers flourish that year. All the plants flourish that year and I pondered on how we were seeing the flood as a crisis or chaos.

May we start to expand our minds to see life through the eyes of the land as we won’t survive without it. ❤️
